Key Characters:

Growth Form: Erect, suffrutescent perennial herbs 0.7-2.5 m tall.

Leaves: Leaves simple. Opposite. Blades oblong or ovate Base cuneate (wedge-shaped). Margins serrate/dentate.

Flowers:

Fruit: Fruit a simple; dry; achene (cypsela); black; glabrous; straight; wingless; 8-13 mm long; 1-1.5 mm wide.
